Fuel Scarcity Still Biting Hard in Ibadan

There seems to be no respite in sight for car owners and motorists in Ibadan. The fuel scarcity still lingers on. Yes, it's not as worse as few weeks back but you can see still long vehicular queues in all filling stations belonging to major marketers e.g. Oando, Mobil, Total, Texaco, Bovas, AP, Con Oil in Ibadan. I think the major reason for this is that they (major fuel marketers) sell at the control price of N97.00.

The main beneficiary to the scarcity, if you ask me, are the independent oil marketers who sell around N110 per litre or more. Well, some Ibadan residents think these marketers make the scarcity more bearable since a lot of people don't mind buying at that rate as long as they have fuels in their cars.

Another angle to the scarcity that is giving people concern is availability of fuel for generators. Power generation is at its lowest ebb since a couple of months back now. In my area, we don't have light for up to 10 hours in a whole week. Some areas are even worse off. You see people going about with kegs looking for fuel to power their China-produced portable generators which you will find in almost every home in Ibadan.

Come to think of it, the major oil marketers will only sell fuel to your car. It is now up to you to, if you have a generator at home, to siphon from the car or look for a local petrol station that will sell for you in the keg, albeit at a higher price.

Another thing is that the major oil marketers will only open for certain period in the day and some days they will not open at all.

The newspapers will not talk anymore about the fuel scarcity as if it has gone down.

I don't know of other cities in Nigeria but here in Ibadan, the fuel scarcity is still biting hard.
